Meet Rossi Kennedy

What musical instrument, originally invented in Germany in the early 1800's, is the official instrument of both the city of San Francisco and the nation of Bosnia-Herzegovina? It's the
accordion, also known as a "squeezebox." These versatile instruments are used in various cultures throughout Europe, North and South America--for a variety of music styles: popular, dance, folk, jazz, cajun, zydeco and even some classical music. At the Academy of Music, we are fortunate to have Mrs. Rossi Kennedy teach us how to play it.

Growing up in Bulgaria, Mrs. Kennedy started playing the piano at age 3 and the accordion in first grade. Before she moved to South Carolina, she spent ten years teaching music to young children in Sydney, Australia. Click here to view an
Anderson Independent Mail article about her unique experience and perspective.
