Jorge Lopez-Yanez

Jorge Lopez-Yanez, tenor, has had a distinguished career in opera, with appearances in opera houses throughout the world. Born in Mexico, he graduated from the University of Zacatecas in Mexico and studied voice at California State University, Northridge, and the University of Southern California. In 1986, he was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. Since then, he has performed internationally, appearing with major opera companies in Europe, Australia, Canada, The United States, Asia, Central America and South America. In the US, he has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Atlanta Opera--to name just a few. He is well known for his performances of tenor roles in La Traviata (Alfredo), La Cenerentola (Don Ramiro), L'elixir d'amore (Nemorino), La Boheme (Rodolfo), Lucia di Lammermoor (Edgardo), Manon (Le Chevalier Des Grieux), among many others.

In addition to his work as leading tenor, Mr, Lopez-Ynez was the artistic director of the Aguascalientes Opera and Symphony from 2004-2007, and stage director and voice teacher for the Aguascalientes Opera starting in 2000.
